A ranch for the dogs nobody else would take
Who we are, what we do, and what we will never do.
Renegade Rex K9 Ranch is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Port St. Lucie, Florida, run by Mike. We rescue German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois and other high drive working breeds, many of them pulled from euthanasia lists, rehabilitate and train them at the ranch, and place them with adopters across the United States. We do not breed. We take in the dogs that are too much for most shelters and give them the time, structure and work they need to become somebody's dog.
The story
Renegade Rex exists for the dogs other shelters pass over: German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois with more drive than a kennel can hold, many of them on euthanasia lists. At the ranch they get room to run, structure, training and time.
The ranch sits on open ground in Port St. Lucie, with a field for the pack and the block building where the dogs are kenneled.
Mike
Mike evaluates and works every dog that arrives, matches adopters on the phone, and says no when a match is wrong. In his words:

What we do
- Take in German Shepherds, Malinois and other working breeds
- Rehabilitate and train at the ranch
- Match dogs with adopters nationwide, and place working prospects with certified handlers
- Train dogs before pickup through partner trainers
What we never do
- Breed dogs. One litter was born here after a rescued Malinois arrived pregnant, and those puppies are placed through the same process as every other dog.
- Promise a temperament. We tell you what we see.
The team and the partners
Mike runs the ranch with a small team. Volunteers help socialize the puppies and run drills with the pack. Fosters as far away as California hold dogs between the ranch and home. Certified K9 handlers and vendors evaluate and place the working prospects.
In the first week of October 2026, eight dogs were adopted or placed from the ranch.
