Adopting from Renegade Rex K9 Ranch starts with the application on this page, then a phone call with Mike to match you with the right dog. You meet the dog at the ranch in Port St. Lucie. Dogs can go home the same day if you are ready, or after training with one of our partner trainers. We say no when a match is wrong, because that is better for you and the dog.

How it works

    Fill out the application at the bottom of this page. Tell us about your home, your experience with working breeds and what you want from a dog.

  2. Talk with Mike

    A phone call to match you with the right dog, not only the one you clicked on.

  3. Meet the dog

    At the ranch in Port St. Lucie.

  4. Go home

    Same day if you are truly ready. Or have the dog trained by a partner trainer first and pick up when training is done.

Who we are looking for

These are working dogs. The best homes have a plan for exercise and training every day, a steady routine, and everyone in the house on board. Experience with a high drive breed helps, and for some dogs it is required. Be honest on the application. We would rather hear "I work long hours" than find out later.

Adoption questions

Do you adopt to people outside Florida?

Yes. Adopters have traveled to the ranch from across the country, and dogs can be shipped when needed. The adopter pays transport. If you are investing in travel, we recommend having the dog trained first.

How long does it take?

It can be the same day if you are truly ready for the dog. Most adoptions take a little longer while we talk, you meet the dog and we make sure it is the right match.

What does adoption cost?

Fees depend on the dog and how much training it has had. We talk through it on the call, with no surprises.

Can the dog be trained before I pick it up?

Yes. We work with partner trainers. You can have your dog trained before pickup and collect it when the program is done.
